Mining Industry Convention and Expo Goes Virtual
The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) has hosted an annual, in-person convention focused on current affairs, legislation and new mining technologies affecting the mining industry. Since 1942, there has only been one year when the convention has not taken place, and they were determined that 2021, despite all its challenges, was not going to be the second. However, things may look a little different this year from what we are used to.
In March 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt international travel and demands limitations be placed on the size of social and professional gatherings. PDAC is used to welcoming tens of thousands of attendees from over 100 countries worldwide, and we are all still invited - but for the very first time, the convention is going to take place virtually.
“The PDAC Convention is the world’s premier mineral exploration and mining industry convention. We are excited to provide the high-quality programming attendees have come to expect by offering a fully virtual experience for the first time. We are encouraged by the prospect of reaching an even greater number of international attendees who may not be able to attend our event in person.”
(Felix Lee, PDAC President)
There are more than 100 hours of high caliber content, which will be delivered across a diverse array of programs, including the Capital Markets Program, the Indigenous Program, the Sustainability Program, the Technical Program, and the Keynote Program. Plus, we have been promised plenty of (socially-distanced) social events as well!
New to the convention this year is the International Stage, from which educational sessions will be disseminated by industry experts from all over the world. One of the great things about going virtual, as well, is the fact that all sessions will be recorded and able to view online until June. In addition to this, attendees will have access to new presentation content which the Association plans to upload after the convention has taken place.
While it is on, you will be able to view exciting exhibits with downloadable content, make valuable industry connections face-to-face with the video chat feature, and discover new, cutting-edge products, all from the comfort of your home office. Skycatch has a virtual booth at the expo and will feature its latest technology for highwall mining solutions. We'd love to see you!
The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Virtual Conference and Expo runs from March 8-11, 2021. We’ll be there! Will you? Come and say hi at our virtual booth or one of the many, many events on the program. Text and video chat options will be available!
